Vandal punctures twelve car tires in West Friesland: “It was a day for me”

A vandal punctured the tires of about twelve cars between Monday evening and Tuesday morning. This mainly concerns company vans in Hoogkarspel, Andijk, Grootebroek and Enkhuizen.

At least twelve people in Enkhuizen, Hoogkarspel, Grootebroek and Andijk found their car with a flat tire on Tuesday morning. The telephone of Ryan Laan, who has a tire company in Hoogkarspel, was therefore also set to ‘red hot’ this morning.

“It was a daggie for me,” he says to NH Nieuws, which has just fitted the last tires in Enkhuizen. “At 6.30 am I was already called by a company from Andijk, asking if I was already open. He had to take his children back to school at 08.00.”

So the tire fitter has had a busy day. “First I had another job that I still had to finish. Around 11 am I immediately got into my van and drove in that direction. There was still a lot of work to be done”, Laan looks back. “About twelve tires had to be replaced. I just finished.”

The first reports came in at 23.30, after which the messages slowly poured in. It was a hit in the Annie MG Schmidtlaan and Godfried Bomanshof in Grootebroek, among others. In Enkhuizen it concerned the Onder Zeil, Zuider Kadijk and Kavelsoot.

Police are still investigating and checks if there is a connection between the vandalism. They are also looking for any witnesses. The police hope that local residents with a doorbell with a camera, dashcam or surveillance camera will give their images to the police.

The identity of the perpetrator(s) or the motive for the act is therefore still unknown to the police.
