Van Gerwen convincingly past Klaasen, also Van Duijvenbode and Noppert further in Zwolle | Darts

Results and programAfter Danny Noppert and Dirk van Duivenbode, Michael van Gerwen has also qualified for the third round of the Dutch Darts Championship in Zwolle tonight. Van Gerwen convincingly dealt with Jelle Klaasen (6-2). Earlier, Van Duivenbode defeated Mickey Mansell 6-4 tonight.

This afternoon Noppert already qualified for the third round, after a wonderful thriller with Martin Schindler, in which the Frisian was only eighth match dart the win came in: 6-5. Jermaine Wattimena didn’t make it. The Machine Gun went down against world champion Peter Wright: 4-6. Danny Jansen will be in action later tonight.

In the third round, Noppert will meet Wright, Van Duivenbode will meet Dave Chisnall and Van Gerwen will take on Callan Rydz.

The biggest names from the darts world will gather in Zwolle this weekend. The tournament is part of the Euro Tour, in which Michael van Gerwen has already won two tournaments this year. De Brabander is not only one of the favourites, he is also the darts player who has won the tournament most often: no fewer than five times. The tournament was canceled in the corona years 2020 and 2021, so that Ian White is still the defending champion. However, the Englishman has not qualified this year.

The tournament is played according to a simple knock-out system. Matches are best of 11, with the exception of the semi-finals and final, which are best of 13 and best of 15 respectively. The winner will receive around 160,000 euros in prize money.
