Michael van Gerwen convincingly qualified for the third round of the Dutch Darts Championship in Zwolle on Saturday. The three-time world champion simply dealt with Jelle Klaasen: 6-2.

The 37-year-old Klaasen, who collided with Van Gerwen for personal reasons in the past, started the match very well. The 130 of the world threw a 170 finish and drew the tie in legs: 1-1.

Despite Klaasen’s strong start, Van Gerwen did not let himself get out of his game. The number three in the world threw an average of 104.67 (versus 98.05) with three darts and easily ran to 6-2.

The best darts players in the world will play this weekend in Zwolle at the Dutch Darts Championship. The tournament is part of the Euro Tour, in which Michael van Gerwen has already won two tournaments this year.

Van Gerwen has already won the tournament in the Netherlands five times, making him the record holder. In 2020 and 2021, the Dutch Darts Championship was canceled due to corona, which means that Ian White is still the title holder. The Englishman has not qualified this year.
