“Especially for the team, because we fought very hard,” said the midfielder at the NOS, who was sidelined for most of the season with a serious injury. “I don’t often score like that. But after my goal, when everyone was on top of me, they all shouted: you really deserved it† That does me so much more than scoring a nice goal.”
Van de Donk was still critical of the way the Orange gave away two goals. “If we add another one at 2-0, you’re actually save. We make it so difficult for ourselves and we don’t have to.”
Orange can do better, Van de Donk admitted. „But the great thing about such a tournament is that you have to have a bit of luck, it doesn’t always have to be beautiful. If we get to the final with this, that’s fine, but you’d rather do it with beautiful football.”
