Van Bronckhorst wants to take revenge against Union with Rangers

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has not yet given up hope of a place in the play-offs of the Champions League with Rangers FC. The Dutch trainer has to get rid of a 2-0 defeat from the first game against the Belgian club Union on Tuesday. If that succeeds, Rangers will meet PSV or AS Monaco in the play-offs.

“The whole team was very disappointed last week. But now we have a chance to rectify this with a performance that I know we can deliver,” said Van Bronckhorst. “Last week we did not reach our normal European level. We will have to perform at a high level on Tuesday.”

Van Bronckhorst is sticking to last season’s European home games. Rangers FC then eventually reached the final of the Europa League, in which they lost to Eintracht Frankfurt after penalties. “No matter who we play against, we always have confidence in our own house,” said Van Bronckhorst. “The atmosphere is always fantastic here and I am sure it will be on Tuesday. We want to score goals but we must not lose sight of the organization either. The balance determines everything. But our goal is attacking and many opportunities to create.”
