Van Bronckhorst also loses second Old Firm as Rangers trainer

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has also lost his second Old Firm as a trainer of Rangers FC. At their own Ibrox, Rangers had to lose 2-1 against Celtic. In February, Van Bronckhorst lost 3-0 with his team at Celtic Park.

The Old Firm at Rangers’ stadium started off brilliantly with two goals in the first 7 minutes. Aaron Ramsey gave the home team the lead, but Tom Rogic quickly leveled the score. A few minutes before half time, American defender Cameron Carter-Vickers scored the 1-2.

The second half started a little later than intended, because Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart found all pieces of glass in his penalty area after the break. Stewards made sure that the target area became ‘clean’ again.

Rangers chased the equalizer in the second half, but Celtic held on to extend their lead over the arch-rival leader to 6 points.

Celtic and Rangers will meet again in two weeks, then in the semi-finals of the Scottish cup tournament. Van Bronckhorst’s team will play two more times against Portuguese club Sporting Braga in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
