Van Bommel puts a scratch under a two-year contract in Antwerp | 1Limburg

Mark van Bommel signed a two-year contract with FC Antwerp on Thursday morning in the Bosuil stadium.

That write the Telegraaf and Gazet van Antwerpen. Van Bommel already reached an oral agreement a few days ago, but now it is in black and white. It is the first job since his dismissal from VfL Wolfsburg last year.

Challenge
An enormous challenge awaits the 45-year-old coach in the Belgian port city. The ambitious owner Paul Gheysens wants nothing more than a serious attack on the established order and national champion Club Brugge. Something current coach Brian Priske has failed to do. The Dane did make it to European football, but was unable to take the team any further.

The Netherlands
Real estate magnate Gheysens would go completely on the Dutch tour with the arrival of Mark van Bommel. It was previously announced that Andries Ulderink is making the switch from FC Twente as assistant coach. The link is also in the presence of Marc Overmars, as technical director of the club. Overmars was sent away from Ajax last season after accusations of transgressive behavior towards female employees of the club.
