Valtteri Bottas’ race ended in an interruption after 20 laps of the Silverstone race.
Bottas would have had seams for points. However, the car suffered a technical fault.
– There was a problem with the gearbox. A couple of upshifts were a bit strange and then the order came back to the pit, Bottas told Viaplay.
The colorful race saw a big crash at the very beginning, when Bottas’ teammate Guanyu Zhou the car went upside down and the Chinese finally crashed into a metal fence.
– The main thing is that the teammate is fine. It was quite a big crash, Bottas commented.
Bottas said that he started to focus only on his own race when he heard that Zhou was fine.
– I think there were opportunities for good points, but it’s a shame that the tricks fell apart.
Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, who started the race from pole position, drove to victory in Silverstone. Red Bull’s Sergio Perez came second on the checkered flag and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton came third after a tight battle.
Bottas is eighth in the World Championship points standings with 46 points. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who drove seventh, is in the lead in the World Championship.
