Vajèn van den Bosch (27) from Oijen won the prize for the best female leading role in a large musical on the Musical Awards Gala on Wednesday evening. She won prizes with her interpretation of the snow queen Elsa in Disney Frozen. Freek Bartels from Tilburg was nominated for best male leading role in a small musical, but was not included.
Van den Bosch took on annual Musical Awards Gala against Pia Douwes, Ellen Pieters and Nienke Latten. She knows the latter all too well. Latten plays a different leading role in the same musical: that of Elsa’s sister Anna.
This year a special edition of the gala took place because the foundation behind the musical prizes is celebrating a 25th anniversary. The actress from Oijen does not have time to enjoy the prize for a long time: Van den Bosch can already be seen on Thursday evening as Maria Magdalena, one of the main roles of the TV and musical spectacle in The Passion.
Versatile
Van den Bosch’s music career started early. At the age of ten she made her debut in a big musical: The Sound of Music. Many children’s roles followed in large musical productions. She participated in The Voice Kids and was voice actor in cartoons such as Maja de Bee. At the age of seventeen she again played in The Sound of Music.
After that, only leading roles in large musicals followed. Vajèn played Sandy in Grease, played the role of Gloria Estefan in the musical on your feet! And for that also collaborated with the Latin world star. Furthermore, the musical star also shone in Les Misérables and even played in Germany in Wicked and Tarzan.
Act
Although Vajèn’s focus is really on her musical career, she has already built up a large CV on the screen. She could be seen in the teenage series Spangas, De Goede Tijden, Bad during Spin-Off New Times and the Spa.
