Despite legal headwinds from the Supreme Court, the US has implemented new global tariffs of 10 percent.
New global tariffs of 10 percent have come into force in the USA. US President Donald Trump signed a corresponding executive order last Friday, which came into force at midnight Washington time (6:00 CET). At the weekend, Trump threatened to raise the rate to 15 percent. However, there is still no corresponding order for this.
The White House is working on a formal regulation that will raise the global tariff rate to 15 percent, according to an administration official, Bloomberg news agency reports. The timeline for implementing this higher levy has not been finalized yet, said the official, who did not wish to be named.
The Supreme Court struck down many of Trump’s tariffs on Friday. But that doesn’t stop the US President from his aggressive actions against trading partners. He announced the new tariffs immediately.
