Washington (dpa-AfX)-Shortly before the top conversation between the USA and the EU in the customs dispute, US Minister of Trade Howard Lutnick sees his country in a good negotiation position. “Europe has to close a deal and wants to close a deal,” he told Fox News. EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and her team flew to Scotland to agree with US President Donald Trump.
“The question is: Do President Trump offer a sufficiently good deal that is worth it to depart from the 30 percent tariffs he set?” Such an agreement would have to include a stronger opening of the European Union market for American exports, he emphasized.
