Michael Jordan causes a stir in a Greek noble restaurant: after a dinner with NBA stars, the basketball legend leaves a lavish tip.
A visit by Michael Jordan rarely remains unnoticed – especially not when he celebrates an anniversary with his brand. The basketball icon invited “Jordan Brand” to a top restaurant in Greece at the celebration of 40 years and ensured a moment that the staff will not forget so quickly.
In the “Papaioannou” in Vouliagmeni, south of Athens, Jordan organized an exclusive dinner with NBA stars such as Luka Doncic, Carmelo Anthony, Bam Adebayo and Zion Williamson-all players who are under contract with Jordan Brand. The menu: a Greek seafood experience with wolf bassshimi, grilled lobster, shrimp skewers and fresh catch of the day-prepared by chef Giorgos Papaioannou, served with a view of the Aegean.
Jordan, who had previously been on vacation on the island of Spetses-on board the 65-meter yacht “M’Brace”, whose value is estimated at $ 115 to $ 150 million-did not miss the opportunity to thank the restaurant personnel personally for food and service. When leaving the restaurant, he left a tip of 10,000 euros.
The former superstar also gave a speech. He praised Greece as “the land of ancient gods” and as a “birthplace of the Olympic Games and modern sport”. With a view to the future of his brand, Jordan emphasized: “This is a crucial moment for the Jordan Brand, and each of you plays a crucial role. Your dedication to our values and the way we present is really important.”
Greek media quickly took up the topic. Jordan’s appearance, his appearance as a host and the high sum of the tip caused a lot of conversation – also because of his friendly and assumed way.
In the meantime, Jordan has left Greece again. According to media reports, he is preparing for his new role as a special contributor at NBC Sports. There he is to strengthen NBA reporting together with former professionals such as Jamal Crawford and Carmelo Anthony from autumn. It is Jordan’s first fixed role on television.
