Dow Jones-The price pressure at the producer level in the USA surprisingly decreased in March. As the Ministry of Labor announced, producer prices fell by 0.4 percent compared to the previous month and were 2.7 (previous month: 3.2) percent above the level of the previous year. The economists surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires, on the other hand, predicted a monthly price increase of 0.2 percent.

The core generator prices without the volatile prices of food and energy fell by 0.1 percent compared to the previous month and increased by 3.3 (3.4) percent. Economists had predicted a monthly increase of 0.3 percent.

The producer prices provide an early indication of the development of inflation. As a rule, sooner or later changed producer prices on the trade and thus to consumers.
