Us Open, in the round of 16 Kvitova, Azarenka and Swiatek

With due homage to Serena Williams’ retirement, the women’s tournament went on. The Czech will now meet Jessica Pegula, seeded number eight, who beat China’s Yuan 6-2 6-7 (6) 6-0.

Victoria Azarenka, three-time finalist of the US Open, is very good, responding to the controversy after the lack of handshake with the Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, taking away the ticket for the round of 16. The Belarusian tennis player, seeded number 26, beat Croatian Martic 6-3 6-0. Watch out for Azarenka, who seems to be going through a good period of form and in these parts she has always done well, but never managed to win the tournament. In the night ahead the world number one Iga Swiatek. Not an easy match for the Pole against Lauren Davis. She won 6-3 6-4 but the match lasted almost two hours due to the many games that ended with the advantages. Victory in comeback by Karolina Pliskova, 5-7 6-4 6-3 against Belinda Bencic. No problem for Aryna Sabalenka, who beat the qualifier Clara Burel, 6-0 6-2.
