US military plane with 4 people on board crashes in Norway

A US military plane with four people on board has crashed in northern Norway, Norwegian rescue services reported Friday. The V-22 Osprey aircraft was taking part in a NATO military exercise dubbed Cold Response when it was reported missing early in the evening.

The V-22, an aircraft that can also take off and land vertically, crashed as weather conditions deteriorated in the Arctic. The wreckage was later spotted from the air by rescue services. “We found it after a distress signal was received,” said emergency services. It is not known what happened to the four people on board the plane.

Due to bad weather conditions, the crash site cannot be reached by air and emergency services are trying to get to the site of the aircraft by land. The police say it will probably take hours before they are on the scene.
