US ex-Vice President Pence does not object to testify about Trump | Abroad

There is an ongoing investigation into former US President Donald Trump’s attempt to undermine the 2020 presidential election. Pence’s testimony is related to those conversations he had with his boss leading up to the bloody storming of the Capitol by Trump supporters on Jan. 6, 2021.

Pence’s failure to file is a major breakthrough for Special Counsel Jack Smith. Pence only has to testify about his conversations with Trump, he is not required to answer questions about his own role that day. The vice president then ratified the results of the election as president of the Senate.

So far, Pence has refused to testify before the parliamentary committee of inquiry that has investigated the storming. The former vice president is considered a star witness because he was in close contact with Trump in those days.

The former US president was also called to testify before a jury, but is expected to appeal.
