The crew is standing in a line in front of the ship when Robert Sands walks onto the quay. The American, director at one of the largest drinks companies in the world, is in Amsterdam with his wife.
Their ship, a yacht of almost 70 meters, lies gleaming in front of the Bimhuis. Inside there is room for twelve guests, a beauty salon, a gym and an elevator. The value is estimated at around $70 million.
The Jamaican flag on the deck is striking. “That’s probably the cheapest thing to have as a home base,” says a passerby. “That might be interesting from a tax perspective.”
