US air traffic controllers report sick due to shutdown: significant delays and canceled flights

Nearly half of all locations where air traffic controllers work in the United States are experiencing staff shortages on Friday, the American Aviation Authority (FAA) reports. Air traffic to and from airports in New York, Washington, Boston, Orlando and Austin, among others, was delayed as a result.
