Update Albania: Ex-Zurich star Dwamena gets market value back

Massanga Matondo at the top

In the open championship race between the capital clubs KF Tirana and FK Partizani, there will be a direct duel at the top in the Albanian league this Wednesday. After a market value update in the Superiore, the two rivals also share the rank of most valuable player in the league. Third-placed KF Egnatia is getting former Zurich star Raphael Dwamena (27) back on the market after heart problems and a successful return to professional football.

Former Kosovar national player Florent Hasani (26) has been able to pull away from team-mate Visar Bekaj (25), who was previously equal, with an upgrade of 100,000 to now half a million euros. However, Partizani’s 23-year-old midfielder Massanga Matondo even adds 150,000 euros and immediately intercepts striker Hasani at 500,000 euros.

Thanks to his 15 goals and eight assists, Hasani is the top scorer in the Albanian championship and, with a current four-goal lead, will probably also be crowned top scorer. However, the attacking player, who switched from the Hungarian league last summer, is absent from the Tirana derby due to a yellow card suspension and thus misses what is perhaps the most important game of the season this year.

Massanga Matondo joins the lead – Good progress at Hadroj

Partizani’s most valuable player, Massanga Matondo, is included despite an injury sustained in midweek training. The Congolese quickly became arguably the best defensive midfielder in the league at Partizani and secured a place in the Congolese national team. Most recently, in March, he played the full 90 minutes in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Sudan (1-0). The “six” impresses with precise play structure, high pressing resistance and calmness on the ball as well as qualities in winning the ball.

Third place on the podium goes to Partizani’s right-back Andi Hadroj (24) with a value of now 450,000 euros (+100k) – Albania’s only international in the domestic league. Hadroj’s excellent defensive skills have been paired with precise crosses this season. Overall, Hadroj made a strong development in the offensive game.

Dwamena biggest winner: Ex-Züricher gets a market value again

The biggest winner of the update is Dwamena of third-placed KF Egnatia. After the market value of the former Zurich player was set to zero due to heart problems and the forced return to amateur football, the valuation is now being adjusted again to a value of 400,000 euros – taking into account that the international market is limited due to the medical history. Otherwise the value would have been even higher.

The former La Liga (Levante) pro is back in top form as he returns to professional football. During the winter break, Dwamena moved from the 5th Swiss league to Albania, where he scored 16 points in 16 games (9 goals, 7 assists) and helped Egnatia for the first time in their club’s history to qualify for the cup final and probably also for the Conference League to qualify. So far, the courageous commitment for Egnatia has paid off and Dwamena shows that he is on the move in other spheres of sport. According to media reports, there are already offers from abroad that are in line with the market value.

The biggest loser of the update is goalkeeper Gentian Selmani (25), whose market value has halved to 300,000 euros. The four-time Albania international returned to the Albanian league after three and a half years after losing his regular place at Turkish second division club Boluspor. After some uncertainties in the first games due to the lack of match practice, the value had to be corrected significantly after the change and fluctuating performance.

This is how the Transfermarkt market values work

The Transfermarkt market values are created taking into account various pricing models and a strong involvement of the Transfermarkt community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values are not to be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.

The goal is not to predict a price, but an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational framework conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
