The court of North Holland has six men on Wednesday prison terms imposed from two to fourteen years. The perpetrators are held responsible for their role in the kidnapping and eventual shooting of Colombian Andrés Castrillon in Bergen aan Zee in 2021. The OM previously demanded prison sentences of up to twenty years. In its judgment, the court speaks of a “great degree of unscrupulousness on the part of the perpetrators”. Two other suspects were acquitted.
Castrillon, who was active in the international drug scene, was shot dead in broad daylight in the coastal village of Bergen aan Zee. Four men tried to push him into a car on February 16, 2021 to kidnap him. Castrillon resisted and was subsequently hit three times; he died the same day from the gunshot wounds. The attack happened in the context of a drug conflict. Mariusz M., one of the convicted perpetrators, would previously have been defrauded by the ultimate victim and his Colombian accomplices in a drug deal and robbed of 150,000 euros and a Rolex. The murder, witnessed by many local residents, including children, is said to have served as retaliation.
Marcin A. and Mariusz M., who took on the organization of the retaliation, arranged people and cars, among other things, and came up with the plan. They received fourteen years in prison. Two others were sentenced to 10 years for complicity in Castrillon’s death. Another perpetrator received two years for his role in the kidnapping. One of the shooters, the still fugitive Polish Ardijan A., was also sentenced to fourteen years in prison in absentia.
