Up to four years in prison for gang that wanted to import cocaine in a shipment of frozen fish

In 2017, the police had information that 60-year-old Dirk V. from Oostkamp traded cannabis, speed and cocaine. He is said to have sold drugs to a 66-year-old woman from Antwerp and a dealer from Hooglede.

The investigation revealed that he was in frequent contact with Charles K, 56-year-old Ostend. The Public Prosecution Service noted that they often met in a parking lot along the E17 in Kalken. Thanks to further research, it turned out that in November 2017 two meetings were held with a Dutch organization.

Dirk V. eventually admitted that during these meetings, cocaine was planned to be imported from South America. In a container with frozen fish, the drugs would then be brought into our country via the port of Antwerp.

The defendants also had plans to produce speed. Several bottles of amphetamine oil, the basis for the production of speed, are said to have been delivered from the Netherlands.

Dirk V. and Charles K. were sentenced to four years in prison for these offenses. Five other defendants were sentenced to one to three years in prison. Finally, two alleged accomplices were also acquitted.
