Up to 120 soldiers and a cost of several million: Belgium is considering a military contribution in the Strait of Hormuz

Prime Minister Bart De Wever thoughtfully adds our country to the ‘coalition of the willing’ led by French President Macron, which must ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz after a lasting ceasefire. Defense specialist Roger Housen mainly sees diplomatic gains for Belgium from such a participation: “Our flag will be on the list of countries that help the Gulf states make the Persian Gulf safe, so that Queen Mathilde can go on a trade mission to Saudi Arabia later this year with her head held high.”
