Unveiling: the theatrical experiment by Silvia Gallerano and Michela Cescon

Land actresses are naked. I didn’t see them; male spectators are not allowed, only women (I am writing this article thanks to my informants, who I consulted out of curiosity from Antonella Baccaro’s column of 01/28). The stage is an extension of the audience. They are not models; they are normal women, who are never ugly. Title: Unravel. The key is to open up and accept yourself.

Dysmorphophobia or body dysmorphia: when not liking yourself becomes a pathology

The actresses discuss their bodies and how to resist the pressure of society that demands perfection and offers cosmetic surgery. Confession between women extends to the themes of the unconscious and contemporaneity. Her relationship with her mother, suffered as an inconvenience or loved with a sense of guilt for the inability to have a conversation with her. Violence, oppression, motherhood.

The direction is by Silvia Gallerano, the producer is Michela Cesconthe brilliant actress who made her debut with Ronconi and left him to find her own path, and sure enough, she found it.

The person who told me the play told me that for the first time she was the oldest in the audience, while she is used to being the youngest. In short, there were a lot of girls. Those who get involved become co-protagonists. And it all ends with a confession of guilt and a liberating dance.

It couldn’t be said better than what is written in the brochure: «Female bodies only: this is the experiment. It’s a call. Whoever feels like it answers. It’s not for everyone. It’s for anyone who wants to meet us. We don’t show ourselves like zoo animals. We welcome those who are interested in mirroring themselves. There are words. Many. Which cover, which protect the bodies. And then there are the bodies. Just as we look at them in the mirror when we wake up. Before disguising them to walk among others. You know when they say: imagine a person who scares you while they are naked. To dismantle it. To see that it is made up of the same pieces that make up you. Here, we really undress. We show them all our pieces.”
