Unrest in 2nd Exloërmond due to GP’s departure: ‘He is a wonderful person’

A letter from the GP group Noorderdokters has caused unrest and disappointment among the residents of 2e Exloërmond. The letter announces that practice owner Van de Ven is resigning from her position as general practitioner at Noorderdokters. This news came completely out of the blue, according to residents.

The departure of the GP has caused a stir in 2nd Exloërmond, especially when it was reported that her departure was not entirely voluntary. An online petition has been started to express the concerns.

“It is in the interest of the village, we must ensure that the GP practice is well occupied. Van de Ven is very popular, so this of course hurts even more,” says Ellen Demois of the Samen Kom Je Verder foundation. This foundation is committed to the interests of the villagers. “We as an organization have set up the petition, but it is a call from the village.”

Villagers indicate that things are currently messy within the general practice. “They are difficult to reach by telephone and you cannot go there directly, which is a tricky point in the village,” says Demois.

The village has questions. How will it all work out later? And can they still go to the practice every day? This causes unrest among many people. At this time, Van de Ven indicates that he does not wish to comment on this.

“I have not been able to determine from the letter that was received whether a new person has been appointed,” says Demois. “This puts health at risk and you should not want that.”

Van de Ven will resign from her duties on January 1. The aim of the petition is for GP Van de Ven to stay. “He’s just a wonderful person,” says Demois. But even without Van de Ven, a good line-up is important, according to Demois. “If she leaves and a good replacement comes back, it will of course take some getting used to. We just hope that we can also visit the practice every day in January.”

The letter from Noorderdokters contains an appeal to the residents of the village. The general practice asks residents if they would like to think about future care. Because this practice is also aware of the increasing national shortage of general practitioners.
