University golf team in an accident

Both cars caught fire in an accident.

The golf team at Southwest University in New Mexico, USA, was involved in a tragic accident in West Texas earlier this week that claimed nine lives.

The women’s and men’s golf teams were returning from the tournament on Tuesday night when a pickup truck crossed the center line and collided with a van carrying the teams.

Both cars caught fire.

A platform truck driver, six university players and a 26-year-old coach of the golf team, as well as a hitherto unidentified 13-year-old boy, died in the crash.

The boy was traveling in a pickup truck.

One of the deceased players was Mexican, the other Portuguese.

Two Canadian players were taken from the crash site by helicopter to the hospital. They are in a critical state.

The crash occurred on a two-lane, paved highway with a speed limit of 120 kilometers per hour. Second, it’s not sure how hard the cars were driving at the time of the crash.

– We don’t know what happened. This is a huge investigation, the mother of a victim said to ESPN.

Shock

A member of the university golf team Jasmin Collumin was to be on the race trip. Collum decided at the last minute to go to his parents instead of the tournament.

– We knew all the people on the ride. Actually, the whole team is dead or in the hospital, Collum’s mother Tonya comments.

A memorial was erected on the campus of the golf team on the university campus.

Governor of the State of New Mexico Michelle Lujan Grisham wrote on Facebook that he was “very sad” about the death.

– This is a horrible accident. I pray for the community and all those close to us as we await further information from the authorities.

Also the governor of Texas Greg Abbott expressed his condolences.

– We grieve with those whose loved ones lost their lives too early in this horrible accident.
