The website and app of insurer Univé from Assen are easily accessible again. Due to the fire at a large data center of NorthC Datacenters in Almere yesterday, it was impossible to take out insurance or report damage.
The insurer’s website states that everything is working properly again. However, the website may still respond a little slower due to the repair work.
One of the insurer’s IT suppliers with its head office in Assen has housed its infrastructure at the data center in Almere. Due to the fire, the systems used to take out or change insurance policies and report damage were unavailable for some time.
At that time, the insurer could be reached offline by telephone and in the store.
The fire started yesterday around 8:45 am at the back of the data center on Rondebeltweg in Almere, in a technical room. In the evening the fire brigade had the fire under control.
In addition to Univé, the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), transport company Transdev, the Chamber of Commerce (KVK) and the University of Utrecht (UU) are affected.
A number of these institutions are still struggling with the consequences of the fire today.
