It is a rarity on the football fields. After Frank and Ronald de Boer, Quinten and Jurriën Timber and Willy and René van de Kerkhof, Wassim and Anass are the following twins in professional football. Wassim made his debut with Young AZ and played in the Youth League with AZ Onder-19. In the first division, Anass made his first minutes at FC Volendam this season.
The two-egg twins are bursting with similarities, even though they are not physically similar to each other. “We are also still sleeping in the same room,” says Anass. Yet the biggest difference is that Wassim is a wing attacker and Anass is a defender. “He is a bit more serious,” says Wassim about Anass. “And he is a bit looser. It says a lot that we have the same friends.”
They started at a young age at OFC Oostzaan. Then the two went to play football at Fortuna Wormerveer, after which Wassim was scouted by AZ. A few years later, Anass made the switch to FC Volendam.
The biggest dream of Wassim and Anass is to play football again. At which club, they are not completely out of that. FC Barcelona if it is up to Wassim and can choose Real Madrid as Anass. Wassim already played against FC Barcelona recently. With AZ Under-19 he played the semi-final of the Youth League against the Catalans.
