Uniqlo launches Re.Uniqlo Studio – a service for various circular economy services – for the first time in a German store.
From February 2nd, customers of the Berlin flagship can hand in their Uniqlo products in the new area for repair, modification or as a donation, said the subsidiary of the Japanese retail group Fast Retailing Co. Ltd. on Monday with With this, Uniqlo wants to extend the useful life of its own products. Garments that are no longer wearable are recycled as material for new garments and as a source of energy. In addition to repairs, the store on Tauentzienstraße also offers the Japanese sewing technique Sashiko, which refines the pieces.
“The Re.Uniqlo Studio corresponds to the zeitgeist and supports Uniqlo’s claim to conserve resources and develop durable clothing,” said Yamato Kuwahara, COO Uniqlo Germany. “We are very pleased that our local pilot project is now taking place on a global scale.”
The new Re.Uniqlo Studio emerged from the pilot project ‘Second Life Studio’ of the Berlin flagship and the charitable association Berliner Stadtmission. This was started in 2021.
