Union welcomes FC St. Pauli in the quarter-finals of the cup

That would have been a nice game for Max Kruse…

Union’s path to the final of the DFB Cup in the Olympic Stadium leads via FC St. Pauli, Kruse’s former club.

This resulted in the quarter-final draw. The game will be played on March 1st or 2nd, 2022 in the Alte Försterei.

“Playing at home against the second Bundesliga team is an interesting, but also an ambitious game. But we’re happy that we can play in front of our own people and we want to try to get into the semi-finals,” said manager Oliver Ruhnert.

With the Hamburgers, the current second in the 2nd division comes to Köpenick.

After greats like FC Bayern, Dortmund and Leverkusen were already out of the competition, the Köpenickers are now even the favorites to win the cup.
