In order for Frank Schmidt and 1. FC Heidenheim to manage to stay in the Bundesliga, the club needs a miracle. In the background, those responsible are already working on the squad for the coming season and could present a new addition shortly. According to “Berliner Zeitung” and “Bild”, the FCH is in advanced discussions with Tim Skarke from Union Berlin.
The 29-year-old offensive player has been under contract with Union Berlin since 2022. In the second half of 2023 he was loaned out to FC Schalke, and in the following season to Darmstadt 98 – with both clubs he was relegated from the Bundesliga. Nevertheless, Skarke probably had his best season, especially in Darmstadt, as he scored eight goals and two assists in 30 first division games. For Union Berlin he was only successful once in 64 appearances, 16 of them from the start. In the current season he has appeared in 23 games, five of which are in the starting line-up.
For Skarke, a move to 1. FC Heidenheim would be a return to his old place of work. Between 2008 and 2014, the Heidenheim native was trained in the club’s youth ranks and was part of the professional squad from 2014. Until he moved to Darmstadt 98 for 100,000 euros in 2019, he played 70 games for FCH, in which he scored eight goals.
Skarke, who in addition to the position in the center of the attack can also hold both offensive wings, could be the successor to Eren Dinkçi. The attacker was loaned out from SC Freiburg in January and will probably return to the Breisgauers in the summer. Similar to Skarke, the German-Turk, who has three goals and two assists in twelve appearances, can play all positions in the offensive. Skarke’s change should take place regardless of the league.
