Union Berlin: Successful coach Urs Fischer extended – “It’s unbelievable”

Assistant Hoffmann also stays

1. FC Union Berlin has extended Urs Fischer’s contract, which originally expired at the end of the season. The successful coach, who took over the “Iron” in 2018 and led him directly to the Bundesliga for the first time, signed a new working paper on Wednesday, the term of which the club did not provide any information about. Assistant Markus Hoffmann also extended his contract with the Köpenickers.

In 172 games under Fischer’s management to date, 1. FC Union have scored an average of 1.59 points. The Berliners also settled in the top third of the table. In the past two seasons, Fischer led the “Iron” into the European Cup, on the 6th matchday of the current season Union took over the top of the table in the Bundesliga for the first time and will also be the leader in the coming 8th matchday.

“Urs Fischer is an excellent coach who, together with the entire coaching team, led our team into the most successful sporting phase in our club’s history. Our cooperation is also characterized by great respect and mutual trust, which is why our discussions about further cooperation went accordingly. For all of us, there was no question that we would like to continue the successful cooperation. I am very pleased that Urs Fischer and Markus Hoffmann will remain Union members in the years to come,” said President Dirk Zingler.

Something like this helps immensely in day-to-day work and I am therefore very pleased to have continuity in these important positions.”
