Applying for an emergency passport is regularly accompanied by a lot of panic, so you expect most travelers to check well in advance if they need one. Nevertheless, the number of applications for the document has been increasing two years in a row.
“We are somewhat surprised that so many emergency applications have been received this year,” says a spokesperson for the KMar. They had expected to have to explain emergency documents less often this year. “Unlike now, we saw it coming during the passport peak last year.”
