Ultrarunner Karel Sabbe started fourth run in American marathon: “Run for more than 32 hours”
Karel Sabbe comes from Waregem and lives in Anzegem. In the American Tennessee he is working on a tough course: up and down, walking with a compass. Forty participants were at the start, but for now only five are left.
Participants must complete an unmarked 160 kilometers course in 60 hours. In 35 years only fifteen runners managed to reach the finish line.
“Hardest run is yet to come”
Sabbe is the first to walk in on Wednesday evening after three loops. He’s in first place for now, but there are still two loops to go. That will also be the heaviest.
In the meantime, the ultra runner has also started the fourth run.
