Ukraine requests postponement of World Cup playoffs

The Ukrainian Football Association has requested a postponement of the World Cup playoff game scheduled for March 24 in Scotland.

This is reported by the “BBC”. Football in Ukraine has also come to a standstill after the attack by Russia.

The winner of the match in Glasgow is supposed to play either Wales or Austria five days later for a ticket to the World Cup in Qatar. The World Cup draw is currently scheduled for April 1st, with the tournament scheduled to start on November 21st.

Oleg Protassov, vice-president of the Ukrainian Football Association, recently stated that he couldn’t think about football in view of the attack on his home country.

It is currently “a bit absurd” to lose a thought about the World Cup qualifier in Scotland, “especially since our focus is on completely different things,” he said: “As soon as the guns rest, we will deal with this topic.”

Actually, Russia was supposed to play against Poland for a World Cup ticket at the end of March, but FIFA has now blocked the Russian association. The Polish national team had previously declared that they did not want to play against Russia.
