The Armed Forces of Ukraine want to abandon conscripts from January 1, 2024. The president Vladimir Zelensky instructed the government to prepare a relevant bill and submit it to the Verkhovna Rada.
In addition, the new document should provide for the emergence in Ukraine of a new system of enhanced military training citizens, which can become an alternative to military service.
At the same time, from 2022 to 2025, the number of military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will increase by 100,000 people.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the transition to a fully professional army should go smoothly, so the duration of contracts should be extended, and those soldiers and officers who are ready to stay in the army for a long time will earn more – at least three times the minimum wage.
Career advancement will be made on the basis of the serviceman’s rating, the agency writes. “Interfax”.
Recall that during the autumn draft of 2021, about 13 thousand recruits went to the armed forces of Ukraine. The total number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is 261 thousand people.
