Those who want to avoid the row for the Rijksmuseum can also go to the Schilderschool by Rob de Reus in Uitgeest next weekend. Around 50 students made a lifelike replica of Rembrandt’s famous De Nachtwacht under his leadership. “You know that you are creative,” says aspirant-brakebrandt Jessica in this video report. “But it is fantastic what comes out of that brush.”
Half a year ago Rob outlined the contours of the world -famous painting. The students were then allowed to work, with the twelve pigments that Rembrandt also used more than four centuries ago. “Because if you want to do it right, you also have to delve into which colors he used,” says Rob.
Student Remy calls his teacher ‘strict’. There was no place for own interpretations, signatures or other hidden messages. “It had to be exactly according to the original De Nachtwacht. And I am proud of the result.”
Anyone who wants to admire the painting in real life can go to the exhibition in the painting school next Sunday and Monday 25 and 26 May.
