The German actor, who made a career in Hollywood, died on Sunday morning in Palm Springs
Udo Kier is dead. The internationally famous actor was 81 years old. According to his partner, artist Delbert McBride, he died on Sunday, November 23, 2025, in a hospital in Palm Springs, California. A cause of death has not been made official.
He particularly liked extremes
Born in Cologne in 1944, he soon moved to London and then all over the world. He learned English and became an actor. Udo Kier’s favorite genre: horror. His first major film was to be “Mark of the Devil” in 1970, but he was also able to make his mark in the early 70s with “Flesh for Frankenstein” and “Blood for Dracula”.
Kier cemented his career on the big screen with essential parts in dramas such as “Dancer in the Dark”, “Dogville” and also “My Own Private Idaho”.
Not alien to the music world either
He was also seen in music videos – in Madonna’s “Erotica” and “Deeper and Deeper”, but also in clips from Korn, Eve and Supertramp.
Most recently, Udo Kier appeared in front of the camera for “The Secret Agent”.
