The young German handball youngsters fought for a conciliatory conclusion at the U21 World Cup in Poland. The team of coach Martin Heuberger won his last game in the placement round against Egypt with 27:26 (11:15) on Sunday (June 29, 2025) and ended the tournament in fifth place.

Germany had already missed the successful title defense last Thursday, in the quarter -finals there was a defeat against Sweden (26:32).

No walk against Egypt

In the placement round, the DHB team initially prevailed against Norway on Friday (33:29), against Egypt there was now a tough work in Katowitz.

In the first half, Germany was almost continuously behind, but presented itself much more stable after the break. Linus Kutz from the THW Kiel was with eight goals of the best German thrower.

Germany had reached the quarter -finals as the group winner of the main round and set the medal games their goal. The games were already narrow and competitive in the early phase of the tournament.

Denmark gets the title

In the final, the offspring of Olympic champion and world champion Denmark secured the gold medal 20 years after his last World Cup success through a 29:26 (14:10) against final newcomer Portugal. The Faroe Islands won their first World Cup medal against Germany’s quarter-final converter Sweden against Germany’s quarter-final converts.
