U21 can make EM participation perfect in Osnabrück

Berlin (dpa) – The German U21 national team will play their European Championship qualifier against Hungary on June 3 in Osnabrück. This was announced by the German Football Association.

A draw against the Magyars (6:15 p.m./ProSieben Maxx) is enough for head coach Antonio Di Salvo’s team to directly qualify as group winners for the European Championships in Romania and Georgia (June 9 to July 2, 2023). The DFB team won the first leg 5-1 in October 2021.

“Thanks to the last results in our group, we have developed an optimal starting position,” said Di Salvo. “Now, together with our fans, we want to qualify for the European Championship and win the group in the last home game of the season. We’re hoping for a lot of support in Osnabrück.”

Four days after the Hungary game, the German U21s will play their last European Championship qualifier in Poland on June 7th. Germany leads qualifying Group B with 21 points ahead of Israel (16) and Poland (15).
