I don’t buy weekend tickets to Ireland and hang around in front of your garden fences, but U2 are the only band whose pieces I can by heart. I can sing the first song on “The unforgettable Fire”, “A Sort of Homecoming”, he is so brilliant and wonderful.

It’s great that U2 has so much integrity and passion
U2 write all songs on their albums of the whole band – like Coldplay. And they are the only band that has been in the same line -up for 30 years, without major dust or separations.
It is great that the largest band in the world has so much integrity and passion. Our society goes down the stream, fame is a waste of time and the VIP culture is disgusting. Few have the courage to criticize this in a positive way. And every time I try it, I feel like an idiot because only Bono actually achieves something.
While everyone was scolding George W. Bush, Bono led him a billion dollars for Africa. People can be so cynical – they don’t like good people – but Bono thinks: “I don’t care what others think. I say my opinion.”
He did so much, with Greenpeace, in Sarajevo, at the concert for the decommissioning of the northern English nuclear nuclear facility Sellafield, and he is still as controversial as ever.
When the time for Coldplay came to think about fair trade, we took on his role and spoke what many people think. That is what we learned from U2: you have to have the courage to be yourself.
