Striking: the Story lends itself considerably to Tygo Gernandt’s PR bandwagon. This week the magazine is full of celebrities with praise for him. “All from the same management!”

Apparently it bothers the Story so much that competitor Privé had the mega scoop about Tygo Gernandt’s transgressive behavior, that they end up in the Tygo camp because of the misery. “After accusations of abuse: colleagues and ex-girlfriends SUPPORT Tygo Gernandt,” the cover reads large.

Through the fire

The Story really pulls out all the stops to thwart Tygo’s cancellation. “Peter Faber, Carry Tefsen and Jeroen Kijk in de Vegte, among others, are united: ‘We will go through fire for Tygo Gernandt!’” we read in the magazine.

“The widely reported news that Tygo allegedly abused his ex-girlfriend Dianne van den Eng caused a lot of commotion in showbiz. But (…) the claims of Dianne, who was previously admitted for depression and addiction, appear to be quite at odds with the experiences of direct colleagues, friends and former lovers.”

Joint

Carry thinks Tygo is a winner, she says. “I love Tygo. An open, sweet, cheerful, but sometimes also quiet boy. And very good at his job. Sometimes he had a joint with him, but who didn’t use that?”

Actress Sanne Kraaijkamp had a relationship with Tygo and says: “This story makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. The same thing happened to my brother Johnny as is now happening around Tygo. Johnny was accused of domestic violence and everything was dismissed in court. And now it’s happening at Tygo. I can’t handle that well. I love Tygo.”

Coosje Smid, Peter Faber and Jeroen Kijk in de Vegte also express themselves in this way in the Story.

Transparent

Story boss Guido den Aantrekker also uses Shownieuws to make Tygo’s Flikken Maastricht victim – the actor was fired there because of misconduct against this employee – suspicious. Tygo has admitted this misconduct, but points out that according to official investigation there was no question of inappropriate behavior.

Guido: “On the other hand, someone has apparently been at home for a year. Yes, then you can also ask yourself – playing devil’s advocate for a moment, which I like to do -: yes, perhaps someone has already ended up in a rather unstable position. That’s possible, isn’t it?

More going on

While Dianne is being tackled in the magazine, Guido is bashing Tygo’s other victim. “If someone has been at home for a year due to something that is not cross-border, then there may be something more going on. So it cannot be said that this is entirely due to Tygo.”

Where does all this Tygo propaganda suddenly come from? According to Privé editor-in-chief Evert Santegoeds, Story is very conspicuously putting herself in the PR bandwagon of Tygo’s management.

Transparent

Evert finds it extremely transparent. “That management is just not very well put together. In another magazine they let a lot of people respond who then stand up for Tygo. These are all people from the same management! Yes, that is so transparent. They should not have done that.”

He concludes in the podcast Strictly Private: “If you are shaved, you have to sit still and not deny everything in autopilot, even though you know there is evidence.”
