Last week Hamas accepted the peace plan of US President Donald Trump. With this, the organization agreed to put an end to the war, to release the remaining Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and to make way for an independent administration in Palestine. Hamas’ agreement was only conditional. It did not agree with Trumps proposals about the future of Gaza. According to the organization, that is a task for a “Palestinian national framework”.
In the meantime, peace conversations are taking place in Egypt between Hamas and Israeli mediators. They take place in “a positive atmosphere,” according to Egyptian state media.
