Two people were injured in the night from Thursday to Friday after they bumped into a tree in Riel with a car. The accident happened on the Tilburgseweg, on the spot where a Tilburger was killed earlier after he bumped into a boulder.
Around a quarter to four, the motorist lost power over the wheel in a slight bend and bumped into a tree. The two passengers were taken to the hospital with an ambulance, it is not known how serious their injuries are. The fire brigade also came to the accident because the car started to smoke. The police are investigating the accident, the road has been closed for a long time.
On the spot where the car drove against the tree, a 23-year-old Tilburger died at the end of January after he had driven his car against a boulder that lay across the road across the road. The Zwerfkei was then temporarily removed by the municipality. On December 16 an accident also happened in the same place, then a motorist was seriously injured after a collision against the boulder.

Local residents said in December that things are going wrong more often in the bend that is intended to slow the traffic. Mayor Mark van Stappershoef then announced that the municipality was going to take a good look at the traffic situation: “Depending on that, we decide whether the KEI will last and whether other measures are needed.”
The Kei has a symbolic meaning for the village; Riel is known as a ‘KaaiGole’ during carnival.
