Main suspect Sanil B. (19), on whose shoe Heuvelman’s DNA was found, will remain in custody. The suspicions against him are heavier than those against the other two suspects (18 and 19), who will remain in custody until Monday afternoon. They remain suspected of involvement in the violent death of Carlo. The suspects have admitted their part in various assaults, but deny any involvement in Heuvelman’s death.

The 27-year-old Heuvelman died last summer on the Spanish island of Mallorca due to nightlife violence. He was seriously assaulted on July 14, shortly after 2 a.m. along with friends during a confrontation on the boulevard of the seaside resort of El Arenal. Heuvelman ended up unconscious on the street in front of café De Bierexpress, after which he was said to have been kicked several times. The victim died of his injuries on Sunday, July 18.

According to the court, new witness statements provide a clearer picture of Carlo’s fate that night. He was first pushed, beaten and possibly kicked and fell to the ground. Then three or four members of the group of suspects stood around him, after which at least one of them kicked Carlo’s head. In the criminal case, the OM has nine suspects aged 18 and 19 from Hilversum in their sights who, according to the OM, left a trail of violence on the holiday island that evening.

People were beaten in two separate fights. Two victims were injured by being kicked and kicked while already on the ground. One of them belonged to Heuvelman’s group of friends.

The court will rule on February 4 on requests from lawyers to hear multiple witnesses.
