Two suspects in fatal stabbing Yorneo also suspected of robbery at McDonald’s Emmen

Two of the three men imprisoned for involvement in the death of a 26-year-old employee of youth care institution Yorneo in Emmen are also suspected of a violent robbery at the McDonald’s restaurant in Emmen on January 9. It concerns a 16-year-old and 19-year-old man. A 17-year-old boy from Emmen would also have been involved in that robbery.

The other man imprisoned for involvement in the death of the Yorneo employee is also nineteen years old. Together with the other 19-year-old suspect, he is also suspected of being involved in a street robbery in Angelslo on January 12. The two underage suspects aged 16 and 17 are also suspected of violent theft at the end of November 2022 in Veenoord.

Three suspects are detained due to involvement in the stabbing incident in which the 26-year-old employee of youth care institution Yorneo was killed. That happened on January 14 at the Stationsstraat in Emmen. The woman worked as a counselor at Yorneo.

The two 19-year-old men are from Emmen and the 16-year-old boy from the municipality of De Wolden. It now appears that they are suspected of more facts. They will remain stuck for the time being.

In addition to involvement in the death of the woman, two of the suspects are accused of depriving another person of liberty on the same day. That person was present in the Yorneo building where the stabbing incident took place.

In addition, the Public Prosecution Service states that all three suspects also tried to rob a gas station on the same evening on which the fatal stabbing took place. It concerned a gas station on Wolfsbergenweg in Emmen.

The three suspects must appear in court for the first time on April 20. This is a so-called pro forma hearing.
