Two residents of Emmen arrested for fireworks explosion at car

The police have arrested two Emmen residents for causing an explosion in Emmen. They would have exploded heavy fireworks last October at a car on the Stienackers in the Angelslo district.

Both men, aged 19 and 20, are in custody and are being questioned. The police are investigating their involvement in two other explosions in Emmen.

For example, the same car at the Stienackers, which had already been heavily damaged in October, suffered another explosion on 8 November. “Here too, very heavy fireworks may have been used. The vehicle was damaged beyond repair,” the police write.

A following incident happened three days later at a vehicle at Meerveld. Heavy fireworks were also used here, the police report.

Whether the suspects played a role in all three explosions must be determined by the police investigation. More arrests are not ruled out.
