The two women left their hotel in Indore on Thursday morning to go to a cafe when a man followed them on a motorcycle and approached them for “inappropriate contact” about half a mile from their hotel, police officer Rajesh Dandotiya said. The 30-year-old suspect, who has a criminal record, was identified and arrested within six hours for “inappropriate behavior and intimidation,” Dandotiya said.
Cricket Australia confirmed the facts in a statement. According to the newspaper Times of India one of the players sent a message to the team’s security manager: “SOS, I’m sending you my live location… A man is following us and trying to get us.” The team called the police and they arrived on the scene to escort the players to their hotel. The team manager, who filed a report, arrived on the scene to help the players, the newspaper said. The identities of the players have not been revealed.
