Two parking enforcement officers in hospital after serious assault on New Year’s Day

Two parking enforcement officers ended up in hospital with injuries after they were seriously assaulted on New Year’s Eve on Hilversum’s Groest. This was confirmed by both the municipality and the police after questions from NH.

The incident took place around 5 p.m. on the Groest entertainment street in Hilversum. The two employees ultimately ended up in hospital with their injuries. The victims work for a cooperative called ParkeerService, to which the municipality of Hilversum has assigned their parking tasks.

“It is extremely sad,” says Arnold Geytenbeek, director of ParkeerService. “The impact on the people and the team is great. We will first ensure that the employees are well cared for and assisted.” Geytenbeek cannot say exactly how the employees are doing for privacy reasons, but he does say that a report has been filed.

The director would also like to express his appreciation to the municipality and the police. “They took action quickly and later that evening the mayor asked again how the enforcers were doing.”

Police say a 35-year-old man has been arrested.
