The striker gave the home team a 2-0 lead with his third and fourth goals in four games, but the Zwolle team recovered from that.
PEC remained without a win for the seventh competition match in a row, after having won the first two matches. The team of coach Henry van der Vegt now has 8 points, the same as NAC.
Still 2-2
NAC took the deserved lead more than ten minutes before half-time. Lewis Holtby sent Van Hooijdonk into the depths. The 25-year-old attacker dribbled in and shot into the far corner from outside the penalty area. Six minutes later, Van Hooijdonk made it 2-0 from a penalty, which was given after a foul by Jan Faberski on Boy Kemper. With a clever header, Koen Kostons reduced the margin to one shortly afterwards.
PEC showed itself more in the second half. That led to Jamiro Monteiro’s equalizer halfway through the second half. In the final phase the home team came closest to a victory.
