A witness alerted the police around 12:30 am on Wednesday to a burglary in the Mediamarkt along Brugsesteenweg. Police rushed to the scene, but the suspects fled. The chase then started. “The vehicle came to a standstill against the central reservation on the highway,” the public prosecutor’s office reported. “Two suspects, Romanian men aged 21 and 27, could be arrested. In the car, the police found the loot from the burglary, together with burglary materials. There were no injuries in the incident.”
The duo was brought before the Kortrijk investigating judge, who arrested them on suspicion of theft with forcible entry and association of criminals. Both men will appear in court on Tuesday.
